Join us every Tuesday for the best open mic in Montgomery County. Hosted by rob Hinkal and Rowan Corbett, and in collaboration with the Institute of Musical Traditions, the Spring Open Mic welcomes all performers – beginners, pros, and everywhere in-between – as well as listeners, to the open air courtyard at Sandy Spring Museum. A featured artist will perform each week and the open mic will be livestreamed on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch (but performers must perform in-person!)
Featured performer: Petrichord! Based in the DC-area, Colleen Holroyd (fiddle, feet), Sophie Chang (cello), and Bobby LaRose (piano, mandolin, bones) have been playing together for contra dances and concerts for the last three years. Joining different strands of folk traditions, the trio creates a vibrant, rich experience for dancer and listener.
A suggested donation of $10, which will help sustain the event, can be paid through the registration link or in-person at the program.
Should you have technical questions about the Open Mic and/or your performance, please contact rob Hinkal at (301) 910-2575. For accommodation requests, please contact the museum via email or at (301) 774-0022.
Pre-registration is required to perform and requested of all attendees. In an abundance of caution, only the first twenty-five registrants will be allowed to attend. To enter, you will be asked to show either a COVID-19 vaccine card or proof of a negative PCR test within 48-hours of The Spring Open Mic.
