Free EventPlease join us for Takoma Park, Maryland's 130th Independence Day Celebration - one of our communities most unique and special traditions - a morning parade and an evening patriotic & musical program!
Parade begins at 10am and lasts about 1.5 hours. This year's theme is Community Heroes and leading the parade will be our Grand Marshals, Takoma Park's First Responders. Please join us!
(Parade begins at Carroll & Ethan Allen Aves, travels south on Carroll Ave, turns right on Maple Ave, and continues to Ritchie Ave).
Evening Program will begin at 7pm:
This year we bring the 4th of July to the streets of Takoma Park! With a stage of LIVE MUSIC and the tumbling spectacle of the WAU Acro Airs, food trucks, children's activities, vendors and more, join us for our 130th celebration and come Party in the Streets of Takoma Park, right in front of the Takoma Park Community Center!
At 7pm we begin with the Takoma Park Community Band performs a patriotic selection of classical, popular and show tunes...
then the show takes to the air with the Acro-Airs : Washington Adventist University's high-flying acrobatics troupe!
....and THEN MO’Fire! Where the sounds of Motown ignite with the Elements of the Universe! will keep the party going on the streets of Takoma Park with the music of The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Sam Cooke, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Diana Ross - and of course - legends Earth, Wind & Fire!

Please note: due to construction at Takoma Park Middle School, there will not be fireworks in Takoma Park this 4th of July. Instead, this year's evening program will take place on Maple Avenue in front of the Takoma Park Community Center, and will feature exciting musical performers, including patriotic music from the Takoma Park Community Band, as well as activities for children and families. We have it on good authority that the dogs and cats of Takoma Park will thank us. Please visit takomapark4th.org to learn more.
