North Bethesda, MD, March 5, 2020 – The Montgomery County Road Runners Club (MCRRC) is again partnering with Federal Realty to bring its signature, and 24th annual, Pike’s Peek 10K road race finish festival to Pike & Rose. This year’s race is on Sunday, April 26, 2020.
With more than 40 shops and restaurants now open and more coming soon, Pike & Rose is the premiere destination for entertainment, shopping, dining, office and residential in Montgomery County, conveniently accessed by car, bike or Metro via the White Flint station.
“We are thrilled to partner with MCRRC to host this celebrated event for the third consecutive year,” said Mickey Papillon, Vice President and General Regional Manager, Pike & Rose. “Pike & Rose looks forward to welcoming more than 3,000 runners and spectators to our neighborhood on race day.”
The Pike’s Peek 10K is one of the largest 10K road races in the region and was named by RunWashington Magazine in 2017 as the region’s Best 10K Race. The race is widely known as a PR (personal record) friendly course for runners. With its gentle net downhill profile, this point to point course starts near the Shady Grove Metro station and winds its way down Route 355--Montgomery County’s busiest retail corridor--and finishes at Pike & Rose with convenient access to dining, retail and transit.
“For the third year, we are excited to team with Pike & Rose to conduct this annual rite of spring,” said Ken Earley, President of the Montgomery County Road Runners Club. “To make things even more special, this year’s race has been selected as the site for the 2020 RRCA Maryland 10K state championship. That means you’ll see the fastest runners in the state compete for bragging rights as the Maryland state 10K champions in their respective age groups.”
The Pike & Rose neighborhood will host children’s events, including the Kid's Fun Run, sponsored by Green Acres School and the post-race festival featuring food, family activities, music and exhibits.
“Runners will arrive at Pike & Rose after completing their 6.2 mile journey down Montgomery County’s main street where they can enjoy a fantastic finish festival and post-race breakfast buffet catered by Summer House and Stella Barra,” added Papillon.
The Montgomery County Road Runners Club boasts more than 3,000 members making it one of the largest running clubs in North America. MCRRC is known nationally for its training and coaching programs and for its robust schedule of race offerings with distances between one mile and 50 miles—and everything in between. MCRRC also has one of the most active volunteer networks providing volunteer opportunities for runners and family members of all ages.
MCRRC’s success is due in large part to the club’s strong partnerships with local, county and city governments, as well as county and state park authorities. Its close working relationships between the City of Rockville, the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, and the Montgomery County Departments of Parks and Recreation have enabled many of our club’s most popular races to take place and continue to provide MCRRC runners “a place for every pace!”
