Take part in the City Nature Challenge after dark and look for creatures of the night, including salamanders, frogs, moths, and owls. We'll visit a hub of springtime activity - the vernal pools at the nearby McDonnell Campground - and record what we find in the iNaturalist app.
This program is open to citizen scientists of all skill levels. Lend us your expertise if you have some, or come along and learn from our experts. Meet at the McDonnell Campground entrance, 7701 Tuckerman Lane in Potomac, MD 20854. Please register all participants.
Wear boots that can get wet and muddy, dress for the weather, and bring a flashlight. Children, ages 6 and up, should be comfortable walking in the woods at night.
