Join Montgomery History from January 21-28, 2023 for the 17th annual Montgomery County History Conference! This year the conference will take place online, offering myriad opportunities to take part, including four keynote sessions, twelve breakouts, and (hopefully!) an in-person Trivia Night.

As always, the keynote presentations will cover the breadth of our collective history. The topics include:

  • the many faces of immigration in Montgomery County;
  • a discussion of why historic preservation matters in the 21st century; and
  • the long and fraught history of teaching our youth about America’s past.

We are also pleased to announce that our closing session will be a sneak preview of the documentary, Ain't No Back to a Merry-Go-Round, about the protests to desegregate Glen Echo Amusement Park in the 1960s.

Breakout sessions will cover such topics as racial deed restrictions, the War of 1812, LGBTQ+ heritage, the Montgomery County Detention Center, 100 years of the Montgomery County Police Department, archaeology, the evolution of agriculture, and much, much more.

Registration starts at just $25 (only $10 for students) and offers varying levels of access to suit your needs.

A full schedule, session descriptions, and more information can be found on our registration page. Don't miss out on the most exciting local history event of the year!
