The Ethiopian Festival, a day of sharing and celebrating the Ethiopian cultural heritage, will take place from 1 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1. The event takes place at Veterans Plaza located at Fenton Street and Ellsworth Drive in Downtown Silver Spring.
There will be a full lineup of musical performances including traditional and modern Ethiopian music, a fashion show, comedy and more. Multiple vendors will display their work. There will be free children and family activities throughout the day. County Executive Marc Elrich will present a proclamation proclaiming September 1 as Ethiopian Day in Montgomery County at 7 p.m.
“The Ethiopian Festival has been a staple of Downtown Silver Spring for quite some time now," said Director of the Regional Services Area Reemberto Rodriquez. "It is it is an opportunity to get to know, mingle and enjoy the best of the Ethiopian community right in the heart of Silver Spring."
